The Sabre 38 Salon Express represents the latest in design and naval architecture. Her exterior profile still says “downeast” and she is built in the tradition of Maine boat building: beautiful, strong, steady, reliable and very seaworthy. Yet below her skin, technology is everywhere: from her resin infused laminates, to state of the art systems, to her pod propulsion drive. Her hull lines are the latest thinking in vee-hulled motor yachts and are specifically designed for the installation of pods, allowing fuel economy, quiet running and a pleasant dry ride.

The pod drive train of the Sabre 38 offers excellent fuel economy, an important consideration in these days of uncertain diesel prices. Pods also lower noise by pushing out exhaust through the propeller stream and importantly allow confident boat handling when docking or maneuvering in tight spaces.

In her interior the Sabre 38 Salon Express provides an open design which will suit a day’s outing with friends as easily as a longer cruise. Her cockpit is raised to a level just 5 inches below the main salon so as to connect these two important social spaces, and the aft end of the house opens with drop down windows and a swing door.

In her main salon a large, U-shaped settee with fold over table will seat up to three couples, while the forward end of the settee can be oriented forward to provide a comfortable perch when underway. To starboard, aft of the Stidd helm seat, is a long cabinet housing an LED television on an electric lift and storage compartments for the owners gear.

After my wife and I ran our 36 footer from Maine to Key Largo 2 years ago, we knew that we would be boating in the years to come. We were fortunate enough to befriend Chris DiMillo some 5 years ago at the numerous boat shows we attended in Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Rockland, Maine etc. We always looked forward to seeing the DiMillo’s team at the Sabre exhibit knowing that when both our kids graduated, were employed and living on their own, good things were on the horizon. This past year, the time had finally come and Chris found us the perfect boat, a Sabre 42 Express, which we named Gizbee. Gizbee spends the summer in Tenants Harbor, ME, and Chris’ team stores and cares for her during the winter. We have had an amazing and enjoyable time working with Chris and his team. We are already excited about next spring!

The Sabre 42 Salon Express is quieter, more fuel efficient and more maneuverable. She also offers more of the touches that make your boating experience exceptional. The Sabre 42 Salon Express allows you to enjoy the same level of personal luxury and comfort that exist in your homes and automobiles. To that end, we have designed and built a new style of motoryacht, available with or without fly bridge, that permits boaters to operate from the comfort of the yacht’s interior or from the openness of a fly bridge. Exceptionally low wind, vibration and noise levels allow for a very pleasurable boating experience.

The Sabre 42 Salon Express & Fly bridge are fitted with the Zeus drive system which includes the exciting Skyhook feature. By monitoring GPS signals, the yacht can remain in a fixed position, despite current and winds. A useful tool while waiting for a bridge to open, for the fuel dock to come available or when picking up a mooring. It is never to be used when a swimmer is in the water or when docking the boat. The Skyhook system also includes an autopilot which can be integrated into the yachts navigational equipment.

While we have changed the way we build our yachts and they way in which they are propelled, traditional values such as safety, fine furnishings and elegant interiors remain constant Sabre qualities.

As an early adopter of pod drive systems, Sabre Yachts has a clear understanding of how these revolutionary drives can best be used to increase efficiency, maximize ease of operation and owner confidence. The all-new Sabre 48 Salon Express is our fifth pod driven model and she takes full advantage of this technology in both her performance and in her interior accommodation plan.

The 48′s traditional exterior profile belies the contemporary performances of her vee-hull. She cruises at 27 knots and at wide open throttle she’ll attain more than 32 knots. With the Zeus pod drive system, turns at speed are as exciting as they are in a fine sports car but perhaps even more exhilarating is the quiet that one experiences at cruise speeds. Less than 75 Dba makes her one of the quietest motor yachts available today. The joystick and Skyhook operations give every Captain the confidence to dock her in the most difficult of circumstances.

Her raised cockpit sole brings together the social aspects of the cockpit and main salon and the aft end of the house opens up fully to connect the spaces. Her main salon offers ample seating surfaces for entertaining or simply relaxing to read or enjoy the standard entertainment systems. While underway the raised settee to port of the Stidd helm chair is a perfect place for the crew to enjoy the ride. And when docking, a standard side deck door serves her helmsman and crew, well. The two cabin, two head layout is supplemented by a mechanical space forward of the engine room. Optionally, this space can be laid out as a crew quarters with berth and head unit.

All aspects and details of this magnificent yacht are executed with boat building skills passed down by generations of Maine craftsmen and women. By including in her design and systems the latest equipment and technology, Sabre Yachts has created the ultimate cruising yacht. With the suggestions and opinions of many experienced yachtsmen, the Sabre Design Team found solutions and created features which greatly enhance the experience of cruising aboard this beautiful yacht.

Her vee-hull with propeller pockets is sea-worthy and dry. As standard she is fitted with Caterpillar C15 865 hp electronic Acert engines, that are linked to Twin Disc Quick Shift transmissions for smooth and powerful operation. The 54 Salon Express & Fly Bridge Sedan will cruise comfortably in the mid-twenty knot range with incredibly low sound levels of 75 db. She is also available with Volvo IPS 900 engines and pods for those seeking the efficiency, convenience and close quarter’s handling capabilities of pod drive systems. AC Electrical services aboard are provided by an Onan 13.5Kw generator and the majority of her DC systems are 24 volt.

Her interior accommodations are another world of comfort and elegance. Beautiful woodworking throughout the yacht, pleasing proportions and unusual fine points such as maple inlays and Shoji screens in the owner’s cabin doors, all create an atmosphere of luxury and warmth in this masterpiece of the boat builders craft.
