Boat name and why?:
Our boat, JacFalCon, is named after our three grandchildren; Jack, Fallon and Connor. The grandkids are an important part of our boating life and are actively sailing, kayaking and fish around Winthrop and the Yacht Club where we are always on JacFalCon. We are proud to have their names on the Sabre.

Typical cruising destinations:
Since we begin purchasing our boats from DiMillo’s, our cruising has expanded into Maine. Each fall we bring the boat back to DiMillo’s for winter storage and take advantage of the trip north to spend a few weekends in Boothbay and Portland to wrap up the season. In the spring, when we head back to Maine to pick up the boat for the season, we spend a few extra days in Portland and around Casco Bay. We always plan it so that we are able to spend our anniversary on board JacFalCon in Portland. Throughout the summer we take short weekend trips to Cape Cod, Scituate and Gloucester.

Best cruising experience:
This is hard to determine, all trips are great. For many years we had always traveled south from the Boston area to Provincetown, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and Newport. Recently, we have felt our best trips are to Maine.

Scariest cruising experience:
Many years ago, we were returning to Winthrop from Nantucket in our 29′ Blackfin. Upon entering Vineyard Sound we experienced a problem with our Loran, just as we were approaching heavy fog. Heading into Woods Hole on a good day in July, with all of the equipment working can be a task, but with the equipment failure, heavy boat traffic, ferry traffic and mega yacht traffic this was a trip with high stress levels that we will never forget. In the end, everything went well despite the heavy fog that continued through Buzzards Bay, the Cape Cod Canal and just outside of Boston Harbor.

Most confidence inspiring moment:
About 20 years ago, a friend of mind had purchased a 36′ Tiara in Ft. Lauderdale and asked if I would bring it back to Boston with him. It was a great trip which we did in 6 1/2 days due to our schedules back then. On our bucket list; for Linda and I to do this same trip without a time schedule.

Top boating secrets:
First; even though we have a Sabre, the grandchildren love to fish from it. We enjoying catching blue fish and believe it or not, we grill it right on the boat and the kids just eat it up. There is nothing better than fresh catch on board!

Second; buy from Chris DiMillo and his team!

Experience with DiMillos:
Linda and I met Chris over 15 years ago at the In-the-Water Boston Boat Show. My boat, at that time, was a Tiara which we shared openly with Chris. For many years we would see Chris at shows and he would ask how we were doing and how our boat was. It took about ten years, and four boats until we finally bought a boat from Chris. It was a pleasant experience buying our Sabre from Chris and his team. We have bought many boats, from many dealers, over the years and we have found the DiMillo’s team to be the best!
